The Future of AUIB
AUIB is young, fresh, and is building a new future for itself and Iraq. Our Strategic Plan (LINK) outlines the university’s goals and plans for the next five years, which outlines in concrete terms our vision and plans for the future. In short, AUIB is developing the programs and resources for students to graduate with the global skills and competencies needed to succeed in Iraq and internationally. With over a thousand motivated, intelligent, and hard-working young Iraqis joining our academic community every year, we are working around the clock to develop AUIB into the premier American university that prepares students for successful and exciting careers in a new Iraq that is once again becoming an intellectual and cultural center for the region.
Every semester sees exciting developments and growth at AUIB. Whether we are adding new colleges, opening new buildings, launching new programs and majors, announcing new grants and partnerships in the U.S. and other countries, bringing outstanding faculty from around the world to teach and engage in research, or welcoming new students and future students to our beautiful campus, AUIB is never static, but always moving ahead.
Through our deep partnership with Vanderbilt University, we are establishing the College of Education and Human Development that will train new generations of teachers for Iraq’s public and private schools that will benefit generations of Iraqi schoolchildren. With the support of our partners Lawrence Technological University and Temple University, we are now establishing a College of Engineering that will offer cutting edge programs artificial intelligence, computer engineering, robotics, environmental engineering, and other disciplines that are not offered anywhere else in Iraq. Other partnerships are developing to enable AUIB graduates to study in top-rated graduate programs such as International Law, Sustainability, Engineering, and Environmental Studies, just to name a few, in the U.S. at Vanderbilt, Temple, Lawrence Tech, Bard, and other highly rated universities. Opportunities to study abroad in the junior and senior years of university study are increasing, with options in the U.S., Germany, the UK, and others. We are even developing internships with Iraqi and international companies that will allow students to work in real jobs during their university studies so they will be best prepared to enter the work force and even start their own businesses upon graduation.
Our various health-related colleges, such as Dentistry, Health Technology, and Pharmacy are on the path to accreditation and building new facilities that will be comparable to many universities in the U.S. and Europe. Our K-12 schools and teaching hospital will soon begin construction and move from the design stage to reality, welcoming new students and patients in the next few years. Other colleges are in the works and will open in the next few years as AUIB becomes a truly comprehensive, research university that will provide our students with comparable opportunities to what they could get in highly rated universities in the U.S. and Europe.
