Policies and Procedures
Purpose
As an essential part of our organization policies and procedures provide direction on day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, guidance on decision-making, fair and impartial application, and development of efficiencies in operations and internal processes. Therefore, understanding and following policies and procedures is critical.
Consistency in practice.
Use of time and resources more effectively.
Improvement in service to students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
Areas of re-evaluation and change are more easily identified.
Build our reputation for excellence, not only academically but a leader in higher education operations.
Provides a safe work environment whereby employees are comfortable in their understanding of the expected work and acceptable behavior.
Creates accountability by setting standards to be held and defense against grievances.
Promotes transparency and identified where constituents can turn to for help.
Ability to attain program specific accreditation from international bodies.
The impact of this initiative is:
- A coordinated and consistent process used in the development and/or renewal of policies and procedures.
- Clarification of roles and responsibilities in implementing policies and following procedures.
- Supporting academic excellence while core values of the institution are upheld.
- Improve consistency in the application of policies across the institution.
- Closer collaboration between the academic units and the Chief Registrar.
- Strong inter-departmental relations affecting enrollment management (finance, student records, advising, student affairs, IT, facilities, etc.).
The policies should support the interests of the University community addressing their priorities while promoting an environment of collaboration and excellence.
