Learn More About Our Administrative Departments

Running a large university that includes over a hundred buildings on more than a thousand donums (600+ acres) of land requires a lot of support services! Our Auxiliary Services Department provides both operations management and additional auxiliary services to both students and staff. This includes such services as support for warehousing, motorpool, campus bus service, faculty and staff housing, food services, the university bookstore, plus all aspects of campus maintenance which includes janitorial services, buildings and grounds, landscaping, and other additional services needed to secure the health, safety, and comfort of our staff and students throughout our beautiful, state-of-the-art campus.

Whatever services our skilled and dedicated Iraqi and international staff are providing, our Values guide us to provide service in a timely and cost-effective manner, to do so in a positive and patient manner, and to give our very best possible service to every client, no matter how large or small the job may be. The Presidential Palace Complex was constructed in the 1990s with many adaptations through the years. These buildings have now been refurbished and adapted with state-of-the-art technology to give AUIB students and staff a learning environment that is safe, comfortable, and cutting edge in every way. With over a hundred buildings across the campus, with many kilometers of roads and canals, countless kilometers of underground cables and piping, and five large lakes, the AUIB campus is a true engineering challenge that can only be maintained by a small army of dedicated, highly skilled, and hard-working staff. This group includes engineers, electricians, carpenters, masons, plumbers, landscapers, construction workers of every possible skill, stained glass artists, and other skilled craftsmen who are proud to present their talents, skills, and best work to making AUIB a true architectural and design masterpiece throughout the campus.

The Department of Finance and Accounting is the University’s trusted financial responsibility center. We strive to be student-centered while maintaining fiscal integrity and providing financial expertise, information, and solutions to enable the AUIB community to operate in the most cost-effective and accountable manner by following U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP). From financial operations to budgets, and capital planning to student accounting, we are dedicated to strengthening administrative and operational efficiency by providing a supportive and productive financial work environment and ensuring transparency and accountability to AUIB’s business partners, supporters, donors, and clients. Government Relations Ensuring compliance with Iraqi law across all areas of AUIB’s operations is of paramount importance for the university community. Our Government Relations team liaises closely with numerous Iraqi government ministries and institutions as the university’s community complies with all Iraqi laws and regulations governing both Iraqi and International staff.

We believe that a world-class university deserves world-class people and services. Our Vision is to be a center of excellence in advancing the University’s mission by helping make AUIB an outstanding place to work, grow, and thrive. Our Mission is to recruit, develop, retain, and support a diverse and talented workforce that reflects the fullness of Iraq’s diverse society, and partner in maintaining a productive, dynamic, and inclusive work environment. As the first point of contact most staff will have with the University, HR projects AUIB’s mission and vision to potential employees, recruits the best possible workforce from all of Iraq’s communities, as well as international experts from abroad, without discrimination. Our Goals are to provide effective, responsive, and people-minded services for all.

The Information and Support Center (ISC) at the American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB) offers a comprehensive range of services to ensure seamless communication and support for both internal and external stakeholders. The Office of Marketing and Communications (Marcomms) offers support to the university community in strategic communications and support and consulting in all areas of media relations, social media, photography and video services, marketing of events and programs, web services, and branding across all areas of the university. The Office also produces AUIB Radio (FM 101.5), all news channels, including “News and Events” on the AUIB website, press releases for Iraqi, pan-Arab, and international media, and is the first point of contact for any media worldwide wishing to cover any issues related to the university as well as providing AUIB faculty with needed expertise to comment on particular topics and news stories for news outlets.

In social media, Marcomms works across all parts of the university to ensure the university’s message is unified, properly branded, and accurate. For photography and video services, our skilled staff provide both location and studio support to produce high-quality imagery that accurately reflects AUIB’s campus and programs, as well as to support all departments and sections in their institutional needs. For conferences, seminars and other events organized or supported by the university, we work with outside parties to market events and speakers to desired audiences and to ensure wide visibility to increase the outreach and impact of university events.

For web services, we maintain and continually update the AUIB website to ensure that it is always accurate and up-to-date and support all departments in their web requirements. This also includes production of a bi-weekly email newsletter on university news.

Finally, Marcomms is responsible for all aspects of the university’s brand. Our brand is what the world sees, and it reflects who we are, what we do, and the values we hold. It is our mission to uphold the University’s values by protecting and preserving its graphic standards so that all parts of the University do their part fully and effectively to implement AUIB’s brand through its colors, its graphics, and its typefaces, all of which project AUIB’s image in English and Arabic, to the world.
