In the presence of His Excellency Dr. Faiq Zaidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council and a group of judges, the American University of Iraq-Baghdad signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Judicial Institute at the university’s headquarters.
This agreement is to strengthen the partnership between the American University of Iraq-Baghdad and the Iraqi Judicial Institute to exchange the global and local experiences in the College of Law at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad.
The American University of Iraq-Baghdad praises the Iraqi judicial system that extends from the Babylonian civilization to the present time, as Mesopotamia enacted the first legal scientific lines in the world represented by the Hammurabi obelisk.
This MoU is a long-term agreement with the Judicial Institute to develop graduate programs and allow the establishment of joint courses covering a wide range of academic disciplines. It will also provide cooperation and training in research and teaching methods in addition to conducting joint conferences, seminars, and workshops. This partnership provides an opportunity to participate with law schools of prestigious American universities, such as George Mason University, Seton Hall University, and Vanderbilt University, among others.

This College is destined to become the very best of its kind in the region, designed to meet the needs of Iraq’s growing legal and judicial system,” said AUIB’s Founding President, Dr.Michael M. Mulnix.
Dr. Faten Mohsen, Director-general of the Judicial Institute, praised this memorandum saying, “We appreciate this MOU and we are pleased to agree on the terms of this agreement under the supervision and guidance of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, that aiming to develop the relation between AUIB and Judicial Institute.”
