The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) and Mirmaz Academy, a leading digital education platform in Iraq, signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement that engages the university’s seven colleges as well as its Center of Excellence for Innovation and Development (CEID) with Mirmaz Academy’s digital learning community, opening up valuable educational opportunities for the latter, both in regular academic programs and in professional development and continuing education programs.
As per the Agreement, AUIB offers partial scholarships for the distinguished students of the Academy, affording them a chance to study at the University. The latter also offers the Academy’s students specialized programs designed to enhance their English language skills, as well as the soft skills of communication and leadership, thus contributing to preparing the students for college, and further on for employment. The agreement also envisions jointly organizing on AUIB campus various events and activities that would allow the Academy’s students the chance to familiarize themselves with the University’s environment and to directly interact with it.
The day of the signing of the agreement was “a big day” for both institutions, said AUIB President, Dr. Bradley Cook, at the special signing ceremony that was held on AUIB campus. He expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Mirmaz Academy and his deep appreciation for the work that the Academy is doing for Iraq’s educational landscape, noting that the more care is invested in schooling, the more successful students are likely to be at college. As he signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement, President Cook concluded his address with a note of optimism, saying that the “very powerful combination” between the two partner institutions’ roles, resources, and reach would serve to extend quality education countrywide.
Founder and CEO of Mirmaz Academy, Mr. Mustafa Hameed, expressed his optimism that the budding partnership between his organization and AUIB would serve to make better and elevate the standards of Iraq’s educational landscape, as he co-signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement that would open up new horizons at AUIB before qualified prospective students from Mirmaz’s student community during each annual term, and that would also offer repeated opportunities for prospective students from the Academy to experience AUIB directly on its distinguished campus.
