His Excellency Minister of Planning Dr. Khalid Battal Najim accompanied by Director of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Directorate at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Salah Al-Fatlawi visited the American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) and was received by AUIB President Dr. Michael Mulnix.

They agreed on the importance of modern education and its implementation in Iraq and the AUIB colleges currently open as well as those that will launch in September. Dr. Battal expressed his hope that teaching at the American university will meet the aspirations of Iraq’s people to create a better future.

He also stressed that AUIB is an example of success, and that the university is a good role model for all private universities in Iraq, as well as an example on local, regional, and global levels. This visit was his first to a private, non-governmental university.

Dr. Michael Mulnix explained the university’s development plan and noted that when the university is at full operational capacity, it will accommodate 30 colleges and institutes and 60,000 students on its home campus and expanded branch campuses.

He also gave a campus infrastructure overview which includes eco-friendly transport featuring green technology buses for students and electric carts for faculty and staff.
