A delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and Migration, headed by Minister Evan Faiek Jabru, visited the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), where the prospects of partnership between the two parties were discussed with AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, and senior university officials.
President Mulnix welcomed “the special guest and friend of the University,” and elaborated on AUIB’s programs and ongoing and future projects, and on the growing network of partnerships which the University continues to forge with some of the most prominent of universities around the world, and also with various leading cultural and research institutions and think-tanks, on the regional and international levels. “We are pleased and excited to start this partnership” with the Ministry of Displacement and Migration, said President Mulnix after deliberations with the Minister and her team.
“I’m honored to be present in this grand scientific and academic institution,” said Ms. Jabru, expressing her hope that a Memorandum of Understanding be signed by her Ministry and AUIB, thus setting the framework of a partnership between the two parties, that would cater to the Ministry’s need for studies and programs on the themes of “recovery, psychological rehabilitation, and the (re-)integration” of the displaced, and also on the subject of “diversity, minorities, and peace”. “I count on the American University of Baghdad” in this regard, said the Minister, also expressing her high hopes on partnerships with local community organizations in working on the same subject matter.
