This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy
Job description, duties, and responsibilities:
- Teach basic and advanced theoretical and laboratory courses for undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students related to Pharmacology and Toxicology.
- Participate in designing modules and programs in novel pharmacology and toxicology domains to reflect the latest developments in the field.
- Contribute to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education’s (ACPE) accreditation process.
- Develop and lead multidisciplinary research collaborations leading to publications in reputed journals, and establish an extramural funded research program that augments the research directions of the college.
- Contribute to the development of pioneer testing and research facilities and laboratories at the College of Pharmacy.
- Contribute to advancing pharmacy practice in the region through designing and delivering various continuous education (CE) programs.
- Be involved in assessment and committee work at the college and the university.
Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.
Qualifications:
- A reputable university’s BPharm or PharmD is accompanied by a PhD in pharmacology and/or toxicology. Applicants with degrees from recognized pharmacy schools or colleges and postdoctoral training in toxicology or pharmacy will be given special consideration.
- Preference will also be given to candidates with research credentials and interests in any of the areas of clinical pharmacology or applied toxicology.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at a reputed university.
- Excellent communication skills in English and familiarity with the American system of higher education.
- Interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- An excellent team player with the capacity to collaborate well with coworkers and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, foster a positive attitude, and search for better ways of doing things.
- Strong track record of leadership in research at the institutional, professional, and community levels; also, successful acceptance and administration of funded projects; this includes supervising research staff and students and publishing highly influential work.
