This position will report to the Head of the Department of Humanities
JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be in the College of Arts and Sciences humanities department. S/He will report to the head of the humanities department. This position will teach core liberal arts courses in archaeology, anthropology, and heritage studies. Experience teaching in the Middle East is a plus.
Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.

Areas of Accountabilities: Main Activities
The right candidate should be able to:
- Teach ancient Near Eastern archaeology, history, art, and architecture courses.
- Teach other core liberal arts courses, such as cultural anthropology, the science and technology of ancient societies, and heritage studies.
- Attend Meetings: Regularly participate in departmental meetings to stay updated on policies and developments.
- Course Development: Assist faculty in creating and updating course materials and curricula.
- Adhere to Guidelines: Understand and follow the university’s teaching guidelines, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain Professionalism: Uphold ethical standards and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Research: Engage in research projects in the field and publish regularly.
- Service: Assist in departmental assignments such as advising, registration, seminars, and professional development assignments.
JOB Qualifications Minimum:
A: Education:
- BA. Anthropology, Archaeology, Assyriology, Heritage or Museum Studies
- MA in Anthropology, Archaeology, Assyriology, Heritage or Museum studies
- D/Ph.D. Anthropology, Archaeology, Assyriology, Heritage or Museum Studies
B: Experience: Years/Type of Work Experience:
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience
- Work experience in the Middle East/or study abroad in any of the regional programs
- Experience in museums/community archaeology projects is a plus
C: Professional Licenses and Certifications:

- Understanding of American Higher Education: Familiarity with the structure and processes of the American university system.
- Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Effective Teaching: Capable of simplifying complex ideas, creating engaging lectures, and fostering active learning.
