This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy
Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.
Job description, duties, and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight of academic affairs across all departments within the College of Pharmacy, ensuring alignment with the college’s strategic goals and ACPE accreditation standards.
- Mentor and support faculty in their professional development, promoting best practices in teaching, research, and community engagement.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty and departments to enrich academic experience and promote research initiatives that align with the college’s mission.
- Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and assess an integrated curriculum that employs innovative teaching models, effectively linking scientific principles to pharmacy practice.
- Support the Dean in managing the ACPE accreditation process and ensure compliance with relevant standards across all programs.
- Oversee the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures that enhance the quality of education and student success.
- Ensure the effective assessment of student learning outcomes and oversee program evaluation processes to enhance academic quality.
- Coordinate continuous education (CE) programs for faculty and practitioners to advance pharmacy practice in the region.
- Serve as a liaison between faculty, students, and university administration, facilitating open communication and collaboration on academic matters.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives and contribute to the development of the college’s long-term vision and goals.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Pharmacy or a related field from a reputable Western institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, such as a department chair or equivalent position, demonstrating effective management and academic oversight across multiple pharmacy disciplines.
- Experience managing or supervising the ACPE accreditation process is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English and familiarity with the American higher education system.
- Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A collaborative team player capable of fostering a positive and inclusive environment among colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
- A high standard and significant record of institutional, professional, and community service leadership in research, including successful acquisition and management of funded research projects, mentorship of research staff and students, and publication of impactful research outputs.
