Job description, duties, and responsibilities:

  • Develop structured clinical rotation programs for pharmacy students, encompassing both Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE). Collaborate with qualified pharmacists and healthcare practitioners to secure appropriate experiential learning opportunities.
  • Supervise and coordinate pharmacy preceptors who mentor and guide students during their clinical experiences. Ensure the quality and effectiveness of preceptorship.
  • Teach both theoretical and clinical pharmacy courses/labs, with a teaching load equivalent to up to 6 credits per semester (which accounts for up to 50% of the role).
  • Implement and deliver an integrated curriculum using innovative teaching models that bridge science and practice.
  • Contribute to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accreditation process.
  • Collaborate on clinical pharmacy practice research projects that result in publications in reputable journals and establish an extramurally funded research program aligned with the college’s research priorities.
  • Design and deliver various continuing education (CE) programs to advance pharmacy practice in the region.
  • Actively engage in committee work at both the college and university levels.
  • Provide academic advising and support to pharmacy students in career development and academic affairs.

Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.

Qualifications:

  • PharmD from an accredited school/college of pharmacy with completion of a postgraduate residency (or equivalent experience with clinical competence in the practice area).
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching or preceptorship experience.
  • Candidates with a Board of Pharmacy Specialties or Board certificate in a clinical pharmacy specialty (e.g., MTM) will receive high consideration.
  • Experience in managing or supervising the ACPE accreditation process will receive high consideration.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and familiarity with the American system of higher education.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • A collaborative team player with a strong ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures, fostering a positive spirit and continuously seeking improvement.
  • A high standard and a significant record of institutional, professional, and community service leadership in research, including the successful receipt and management of funded research projects, supervision of research staff and students, and the publication of high-impact outputs.
