JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Academic Operations will report to the Dean and collaborate closely with the Dean, faculty, AUIB staff, and external partners to develop and maintain relationships with businesses and organizations ensuring students have access to high-quality experiential learning opportunities that enhance the college’s reputation, student experience, and academic quality. These experiences will include internships, capstone and special events and will constitute the position’s professional portfolio.
This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development.

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) seeks a dedicated and efficient coordinator of academic operations to join the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). As an American-style university, AUIB’s CEHD works in partnership with Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education and Human Development to develop higher education for academic excellence and build a stronger educator workforce in the region. Supported by a two-year U.S. Department of State grant, Peabody College is supporting the Dean and ensuring the smooth operation of the college and its administrative staff. The ideal candidate brings an understanding of student culture and international education, will work independently, be detailed oriented, possess strong organizational skills excellent people skills, be able to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Outreach and Immersion Coordinator
- Build and maintain relationships with national and international educational institutions and organizations to create a robust network of placement options.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with public, international schools, ministries related to experiential learning in an educational environment.
- Identify and craft suitable internship and immersion opportunities for students over the course of their program.
- Coordinate the matching and placement process, ensuring that students are placed in relevant positions.
- Keep accurate records of placements and maintain a database of partner organizations.
- Stay current on industry trends and internship best practices to enhance program offerings.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrators as appropriate.
- If permissible, teach CEHD internship and introductory curriculum.
- Support students as needed.
- CEHD Institutional Outreach and Growth in the following programs:
- New student recruitment and transition to include undergraduate and graduate programs.
- College of Education and Human Development Advisory Board
- Center for Advancement of Higher Education in Iraq
- College of Education and Human Development Career Center
- Professional development and teacher workshops
- Special Events
- Assist with planning coordination, and oversight of outreach special events and programs organized by the College of Education and Human Development, including conferences, symposia, workshops, and alumni gatherings.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and develop opportunities for networking, professional development, and community engagement.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
