The College of Healthcare Technologies (CHT) at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) and its students organized a “Donuts with the Dean” event, where Freshman CHT Students met their College’s faculty members and attended a presentation, delivered by the College’s Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ozairi, on the College, its programs, and the medical facilities currently being constructed on campus.
AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, welcomed the students and briefly addressed them, speaking of the University’s expanding network of partnerships with some of the foremost of institutions of higher education in the world, and the opportunities that these partnerships unlock before AUIB students. Studying in the English language means higher demand for AUIB graduates, not only in Iraq, but anywhere around the world, affirmed President Mulnix, adding that an (optional) experience of studying abroad would make AUIB graduates “global citizens.”
For his part, Dr. Al-Ozairi spoke of AUIB’s commitment to make its CHT among the “tier one, best of the best” colleges in its field. One of the crucial factors of achieving excellence is fostering critical thinking and innovation among students, said the Dean, pointing out that several of the most prominent of technological breakthroughs of our age were achieved by students. Thus, the curriculum of AUIB’s CHT is “not a spoon-feeding curriculum,” as it is modelled on the American-style system of education, based on the teaching of the Core Liberal Arts, and problem-solving and career-oriented.
