On the occasion of the Mental Health Awareness Month, the American Space at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) organized a seminar where licensed Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Dr. Rasha Mohannad, gave a talk focusing on the thoughts-feelings-behaviour nexus and psychological wellbeing, engaging attendees in a friendly, casual discussion, and encouraging them to share their experiences and views.
In her presentation, Dr. Rasha Mohannad discussed, among numerous topics, the dynamics of negative and positive psychological reinforcement arising from our past experiences, the impact of environment on one’s psychological state, and the repercussions of various psychological stressors such as trans-generational trauma and social pressures, and ways to deal with these. The warm and friendly atmosphere created by Dr. Mohannad was greatly conducive to intimate, candid discussions of personal experiences and views on relevant topics shared by many members of the audience.
