As part of their Study Abroad experience, students from the American University of Iraq- Baghdad (AUIB) visited the Übersee-Museum in Bremen, Germany, where they explored technological developments and scientific innovations at the heart of global exchange and modern society.
Throughout their program on “Intercultural Media Studies, Data Science, and AI,” and in the company of Dr. Adil Ghidan, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at AUIB’s College of Arts & Sciences, and Ms. Dalia Abid, AUIB’s Regional Director Europe, the students engaged in a range of academic and experiential learning activities designed to connect their studies with real-world environments, including visits to local institutions and exhibitions that highlight the role of science, technology, and innovation in shaping global development.
Übersee-Museum’s exhibits provided insights into the development of technology and industry, and the role that scientific advancement and digital innovation—including artificial intelligence—play in shaping today’s world. The exhibits helped students connect concepts from their academic programs in data science and artificial intelligence with historical and contemporary examples of tangible technological development.
“Visits such as this help students connect academic theory with real-world innovation… Exploring technological and scientific developments in an international context allows students to better understand how global knowledge and innovation influence the future of industries and societies,” said Ms. Dalia Abid.
Such Study Abroad initiatives give students an interdisciplinary perspective on how technology and global exchange interact across cultures and industries, reflecting AUIB’s commitment to providing international learning opportunities that foster global awareness, technological literacy, and intercultural understanding.
