The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) and the Iraqi Red Crescent society signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the framework of cooperation between the two parties, to be initiated by AUIB’s provision of certain academic services to the Iraqi humanitarian organization, chief of which will be English language instruction to Red Crescent members and volunteers.
AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, announced the signing of the MOU as he welcomed to campus the head of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, Dr. Yaseen Ahmad Abbas. “This university is here to help you in any way that it can in the work that you do,” said President Mulnix, commending the Red Crescent society for its humanitarian and relief efforts, in service to “citizens of Iraq and beyond.”
“It’s really a pleasure to sign this agreement” with AUIB, said Dr. Abbas, recognizing the University as “a new model of education in Iraq,” and placing high value on “this kind of cooperation and coordination with a credible academic institute that can add a lot to our activities and efforts at helping and delivering services to the most vulnerable in Iraqi society.”
