The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) and “Al-Tameiuz Center” of the National Security Advisory of Iraq signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, aiming to establish their partnership in fostering academic and scientific exchange.
“The primary goal is to enhance training in security, legal, and criminal justice studies for government employees in Iraq,” as per the signed Memorandum that envisions developing relevant specialized graduate studies programs at AUIB colleges, providing certificate-based training workshops and courses at AUIB’s Continuing Education Institute, exchanging lecturers, as well as organizing joint conferences and seminars, collaborating in research projects, and offering consultations on critical issues such as water and food security.
“We recognize the critical role the Center plays in advancing innovative educational and training programs and in cultivating a society marked by peace, stability, and resilience against conflict and violence,” remarked AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, at the signing ceremony, highlighting “the pressing need for collaborative endeavors, particularly in advanced studies, to bridge the gap among university graduates in areas crucial for serving the public sector and meeting market demands effectively.” President Mulnix expressed his “gratitude to Al Tameiuz Center for entrusting AUIB with this valuable partnership,” saying, “together, we have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the development and progress of Iraq.”
“The National Security Advisory is of the institutions of the new Iraq, and it has a philosophy in the methodological building of state institutions and their cadre by developing the latter’s skills and competencies and establishing new scientific specializations that directly address the present needs of state and society,” said Mr. Saeed Al-Jayashi, Strategic Affairs Advisor at Al-Tameiuz Center, commending AUIB, “this young and novel institution, but one that observes academic rigor and has important specializations and scientific cadre” that enable it to provide “quality” contributions to the efforts of the Advisory, according to Mr. Al-Jayashi.
