The President of the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), Dr. Michael W. Mulnix, recently returned from a trip to Great Britain where he met with administrators and faculty at the University of Exeter (UoE), one of the most respected teaching and research universities in the world.  President Mulnix was invited to visit Exeter by Dr. Gareth Stansfield, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the College of Social Sciences and International Studies. Dr. Stansfield is also President of the Iraq Energy Institute headquartered on AUIB campus.

AUIB and the UoE are finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines a wide variety of joint initiatives in the areas of healthcare, hospital management, climate change and sustainability, programs in graduate and special needs education, Islamic and Middle East studies and more.

In addition to meetings with Dr. Stansfield, President Mulnix met with Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Mark Goodwin, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Dr. Clive Ballard, Head of the Graduate School of Education Dr. Alexandra Allan, Associate Dean of Global in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies Dr. Li Li, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of Business Dr. Alexandra Gerbasi, Director of the Global Systems Institute Dr. Tim Lenton, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Exeter Medical School Dr. Richard Smith, Inaugural Director of Global Dr. Peter Clack, Associate Dean of Research Dr. Susan Molyneax-Hodgson, Director of Operations Dr. Tom Begbie, Head of Law School Sue Prince, IAIS Professor William Gallois, Professor of Islamic Intellectual History and Institute Director for Islamic Studies Professor Sajjad Rizvi, and Director of College Operations in the Medical School Dr. Rachel Burn.

President Mulnix was given a comprehensive tour of the Exeter campus, including the 100-bed University Hospital.
