The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) has entered into a landmark collaboration with GEMS School Management (GSM), a global leader in private education, to support the planning, development, and establishment of a new world-class Pre-K–12 school in Baghdad. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing high-quality international education in Iraq. Under the agreement, GSM will provide comprehensive pre-operational advisory and implementation services, guiding the development of the school from concept to opening.
Through this collaboration, AUIB aims to establish a leading educational institution in Iraq offering an international curriculum and world-class learning environment. The school will serve as a model for innovation, quality assurance, and student-centered education. GEMS School Management will support AUIB across a wide range of critical areas, including academic planning and curriculum design, school governance, recruitment and training of leadership and staff, enrollment strategy and community engagement, technology infrastructure and operational systems, and last but not least, health and safety. These services are designed to ensure the school launches with best-in-class operational, academic, and administrative foundations aligned with international benchmarks, thus laying the foundation for a sustainable, scalable school model capable of meaningfully contributing to the development of Iraq’s education sector.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to expanding access to world-class education in Iraq. By working with GEMS, we are bringing global expertise to ensure the successful establishment of a school that meets the highest international standards,” said AUIB President, Dr. Bradley Cook, on the launching of this promising strategic partnership.
