The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) has an established tradition of organizing Open House days, presenting an opportunity to those interested to familiarize themselves with the University’s colleges and their programs, AUIB’s Continuing Education Institute, and the various cultural institutions and research centers on AUIB’s distinguished campus. Today, AUIB’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) establishes a new tradition, as it organizes, simultaneously with Open House, AUIB’s Science Day, which will become a yearly tradition, an event that informs the audience on the programs and specializations offered by CAS, and allows visitors to not only get to know members of faculty and interact with them, but also experience, through their own senses, attention-grabbing and fun scientific experiments prepared by faculty and students!

The audience at CAS were engaged in various experiments in Chemistry, such as in the processes of making soap and perfumes, and also in Physics, facilitating the understanding of scientific concepts by allowing them to materialize and come to life, thus provoking curiosity and fueling imagination. CAS’s visitors were also engaged with the very interesting presentations by faculty and students of Computer Science on techniques in “Deep Fakes” and compromising mobile phones, drawing the audience’s attention to the importance of exercising caution in using electronic devices and managing personal data, or the importance of cybersecurity and information security in general, knowing that work is underway at CAS to establish a specialized program in this field.
