The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) proudly commends the remarkable performance of its College of Law (CoL) student team at the finals of the Vienna Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition (CDRC 2024), where Maryam Alsbag, an outstanding CoL student, was awarded a full scholarship to an advanced self-study course on commercial mediation offered by the Consensus Group consultancy.

Recognition of AUIB’s CoL student team was made possible through sponsorship by the United Nations Development Program, following the team’s success in a mediation training program held in January of this year, where the team won the national rounds and qualified to represent Iraq, under the supervision of Associate Dean of CoL, Dr. Khansaa Mohammed Jasim. CoL team included Maryam Khalid Abdulrazzaq, Abdullah Saifuldeen Tariq, Hatem Abdulkarem Kamel, and Ali Wameedh Noori.

CoL student team’s achievements showcase the College’s commitment to supporting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) education. The scholarship awarded to Maryam affords her comprehensive training in business and commercial mediation that, once completed, would earn her a certificate and academic credits. Maryam’s success exemplifies AUIB’s commitment to excellence in education and highlights the progress CoL is making in ADR, fostering an environment that promotes innovation, critical thinking, and leadership, while emphasizing practical application alongside theoretical knowledge.
