How to Apply

We’ll walk you through the standard admission process step by step. This process applies to most student applying for undergraduate studies at AUIB.

1. Choose your program

View our programs to ensure you find the right fit at AUIB.

2. Create an account

AUIB is listed at #63 in guide and Ministry of Higher Education portal.

3. Determination of eligibility

The Ministry of Higher Education will determine the cut-off scores for the various programs. When the admission portal closes, AUIB will download a list of those nominated for admission.

AUIB admission is competitive and will determine which students will receive an admission offer.

4. Accept your offer

You will receive your admission offer via text message or phone call to the primary number listed on your Ministry of Higher Education account.

  1. To accept your offer of admission, pay the non-refundable admission fee to the Cashiers located on campus in the Registration building as soon as possible. Unaccepted offers may be rescinded.
  2. To decline your offer call our Service Centre at 6227/6228 and ask for an Enrollment Officer.

5. Complete your AUIB application

Visit the Registrar’s Office in the Registration building to complete the AUIB application form and submit supporting documents. Additional requirements include:

  1. Secondary certificate.
  2. High school transcript.
  3. Copy of the student’s passport or national ID.
  4. Two headshot photographs.

6. Submit proof of English language proficiency

You may satisfy the English language proficiency requirement.

7. Submit your final transcript

In addition to your official transcripts, submit any additional required documents before the deadline posted in your admission offer.

Deferral of Admission

If you have been admitted to your first year program of studies at AUIB, you may be able to defer your admission for one year. For example, if you receive admission for January you may be approved for deferral to the following January. Please note that approved deferrals of admission must meet all admission requirements at the time of re-instatement.

Other admission options

International Student is one who completed their high school outside of Iraq or Kurdistan.

Additional admission requirements include:

  1. An equalized secondary certificate validated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country in which it was issued as well as the nearest Iraq Embassy to that country.
  2. Holders of the Iraq secondary certificate must submit the validation conducted by the General Education Directorate of the governorate in which the student completed their studies.
  3. Original birth certificate or certified true copy.

Transfer Students have taken credit courses at another recognized post-secondary institution and wish to receive credit for those courses towards their AUIB program.

Transfer students will also apply through the Ministry of Education portal.

Transfer credit assessment is part of the AUIB admission process, therefore be sure to review the AUIB Catalog to determine which courses previously taken may be a match with those at AUIB. Then submit a Transfer Credit Request along with official detailed syllabi for each course. Only those courses required by the AUIB degree and with a grade equivalency of ‘C’ or higher will be eligible up to a maximum of 60 credits.
