Dean’s Message
The College of Engineering is committed to delivering high-quality, future-focused engineering education that responds to both national priorities and global developments in technology and innovation. Our academic direction is shaped by a clear emphasis on excellence, relevance, and impact, ensuring that our graduates are prepared to contribute effectively in a rapidly changing world.
The College currently offers six academic programs—Computer Engineering & Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, and Petroleum Engineering—forming a balanced portfolio that integrates strong engineering fundamentals with emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, digital systems, and data-driven decision-making. Across all programs, we emphasize hands-on learning, interdisciplinary thinking, and ethical professional practice.
Quality assurance and continuous improvement are central to our academic culture. The College is committed to pursuing ABET accreditation across its engineering programs, reinforcing alignment with internationally recognized standards and ensuring global recognition, graduate mobility, and industry relevance.
Our Strategic Plan provides the framework through which we advance these priorities, guiding program development, faculty growth, research initiatives, and industry engagement. GRADUATE CAREER PROSPECTS
Students graduating with a degree from the AUIB COE are prepared for a marketable, professional career path that could include positions in industry, government or continuing into a graduate program. All programs offered by the COE are considered “in-demand” degrees focused on solving the world’s complex technical problems. Graduates typically earn a high salary after graduation resulting in a high return on your educational investment. COE graduates support a wide range of modern global industries including infrastructure development and restoration, biomedical, power and energy, telecommunications, agriculture, manufacturing and automation, robotics, water management, data science, machine learning and cybersecurity.

ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS
COE is focused on building strong global partnerships to deliver internationally recognized academic programs for Iraq. COE has current Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with three prestigious engineering institutions in the US including: Lawrence Technological University, Temple University and the Colorado School of Mines. The AUIB COE is working closely with these institutions to deliver unique 2+2 pathways to world-class degrees in both the US and Iraq. Additional partnerships are in development to maintain state of the art degree programs, facilities and student opportunities. Stay tuned to AUIB social media for details!
INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION STRATEGY
- The College is applying ABET standards and processes across all core engineering programs, with the objective of securing ABET accreditation after the graduation of the first cohort, in full compliance with ABET accreditation policy.
- All curricula, assessment mechanisms, continuous improvement processes, and learning outcomes are being designed and implemented in alignment with ABET criteria to ensure international recognition, academic rigor, and graduate readiness.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS
The COE continues to work with our international partners to maintain the most globally relevant engineering degree programs to prepare students to solve critical technological issues. We are currently developing 4 year BS degrees delivered entirely at AUIB in Computer and AI Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. In collaboration with our partners at Temple University, we are also preparing to offer a program in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering.
