Economic Competitiveness

Through careful stewardship of our resources and the tuition that our students pay, we can keep our costs – and our prices – at a reasonable level, all while offering generous scholarship assistance to help those with the most financial need.

As a private, non-profit university, AUIB must compete with dozens of other private and public universities in Iraq, both on quality and price. Thanks to our generous benefactors, AUIB can offer a world-class education at competitive prices without sacrificing the quality that Iraqi parents expect for their children. Through careful stewardship of our resources and the tuition that our students pay, we can keep our costs – and our prices – at a reasonable level, all while offering generous scholarship assistance to help those with the most financial need.

At the same time, an AUIB education gives students both the professional and technical knowledge, as well as the “soft skills,” they will need to succeed in a tough, economically competitive job market. Today’s university students around the world must prepare for jobs that do not even exist yet but have the skills to adjust to an ever-changing job market and professional environment. Whether a student prepares to be a dentist or a diplomat, a pharmacist or a professor, an engineer or an entrepreneur, they must be ready to face a career that will be constantly changing with new technologies and challenges. The AUIB graduate will be prepared to face those challenges and be adaptable and ever competitive in the job market of today and the job market of the future.

Another key aspect of economic competitiveness is promoting entrepreneurship, both for students and for the larger community. Through the College of Business, AUIB teaches and promotes entrepreneurship and encourages students to consider starting their own businesses instead of just getting a “job.” Iraq’s economy needs greater diversification and AUIB and its graduates over the coming years will be key to developing more economic sectors and small and medium businesses.
