Prof. Essam Eldin Aly

Charman of Anesthesia Technology Program Professor

Before joining AUIB, Professor Aly served as Professor and Head of Anesthesia and Critical Care at Badr University in Cairo and as Medical Director at CapitalMed Healthcare City, Cairo.

Previously, he held numerous academic and clinical leadership positions across the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. He has practiced as a Consultant Anesthetist and Intensivist in several tertiary hospitals and served with the United Nations as an ICU Consultant for the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General.

Professor Aly earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and Master’s degree in Anesthesia from Assiut University, Egypt. He later obtained a Diploma in Anesthesia (DA, London), a Fellowship (FFARCSI) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). He also holds a degree in Medical Education from the University of Wolverhampton.

His research interests include anesthesia, intensive care, and antibiotic stewardship. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, contributed to the UK Department of Health’s e-learning program, and has a long-standing interest in simulation-based medical education. He has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching, research, and clinical innovation.
