Dr. Sami Jabarkhail

Assistant Professor of Management

Dr. Sami Jabarkhail brings extensive professional and academic experience to his work. He previously served as Director of the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program at the American Councils for International Education in Afghanistan. He has also held leadership roles as Advisor to the Cultural Affairs Office at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, Country Director for the American Institute for Research (AIR), and President of Refugee Women in Development (RefWID). While in Kabul, he managed and represented the American University of Central Asia’s (AUCA) programs in Afghanistan. Across these roles, Dr. Jabarkhail has consistently worked to expand access to learning and development opportunities through national and international collaborations.

Before joining AUIB, Dr. Jabarkhail taught at Texas A&M University, where he also supported the Assistant Vice President for Professional Development in delivering professional development programs for more than 11,000 graduate students. As an international recruiter at Texas A&M University–Commerce, he helped build academic partnerships with organizations such as the Institute of International Education (IIE), the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), and the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP). At AUIB, he serves on the University Research Board, University Press Committee, and College Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Jabarkhail earned his Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University, where he was recognized with the Distinguished Honor Award. He also holds certificates in Advanced International Affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Advanced Research and Training Development from the College of Education and Human Development, and Conflict Management and Dialogue from the Center for Change and Conflict Resolution in Texas.

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Jabarkhail’s interests focus on the influence of culture in Human Resource Development (HRD), Human Resource Management (HRM), strategic management, and leadership development. At AUIB, he teaches various courses in the Management Department, including MBA courses on Strategy and Organization.
