Dr. Douglas Luke

Director of Financial Administration

Dr. Douglas Luke is a seasoned Finance & Administrator in Higher Education. His vision is to
provide strategic financial leadership, expert advice and guidance on all financial matters across
the University’s operational services. At AUIB, the goal of his Finance Team is the responsibility
of overseeing and providing stewardship for all financial aspects of the University, ensuring the
institution’s fiscal well-being and long-term sustainability. Our fiscal stewardship leads us to
provide Financial Sustainability and Operational Excellence and to steward a world class
institution on strategic decisions regarding fiscal operations. At an operational level, his team
provides high quality financial advice, along with robust financial processes and systems which
support faculty and staff in delivering the strategic ambitions of the University.
Before joining AUIB, Dr. Luke has spent 17 years of experience developing and implementing
strategic plans and initiatives to promote diverse, equitable and inclusive cultures for students,
faculty and staff. He has collaborated as a thought, strategy and action partner with higher
education institutions and nonprofit organizations to assess, evaluate and reimagine financial
strategic initiatives, organizational cultures and structures, fiscal programs, financial initiatives,
and financial assessment processes.
Dr. Luke is actively engaged in the accounting profession and business community. He is a
frequent presenter and speaker at community and academic events on accounting and diversity
issues. Inclusive excellence is building a community that recognizes success is dependent upon
core values and engages in the rich diversity of every involved.
Dr. Luke received his Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership & Administration at Texas A&M
University. He holds both a Masters of Higher Education Administration from Dallas Baptist
University and an MBA from Texas A&M University. His Research includes topics on
“Emergence of Adult Learners; What motivates +Adults to pursue a degree in Higher Education”
Dr. Luke has serves on serval Boards and completed serval fellowship programs such as: 2018
Fellow of Executive Leadership Academy Center for Studies in Higher Education UC Berkeley ,
2017 Fellow of American Association State Colleges and Universities Millenniums, NACUBO
Business officers 2017 graduate of College Business Management Institute (CBMI); 2016 Fellow
of Executive Leadership Program, Vanderbilt University; Rotary Club Member and Board of
Directors; Board Member South Shore Stars, Associate Member, Certified Fraud Examiners;
Editor for Chronicle of Higher Education; American Association Blacks Higher Education member
and committee member (AABHE); National Academic Advising Association Board Member,
Scholarship Committee (NACADA); and American Association for Adult & Continuing Education
(AAACE).
