David M. Kargbo, PhD
Director of the Institute for Climate Change
Dr. David M Kargbo is the Director of the Institute for Climate Change, Water Security, and Environmental Sustainability at AUIB. He has held numerous positions in government, academia, and the private sector, including Associate and Adjunct Associate Professor at Temple University, Senior Scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Director of the Washington DC Groundwater Program, Agricultural Chemist at the Land Resources Survey Project of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (U.N.), and CEO at EnviroOne, Inc. Dr. Kargbo has managed (or teamed up in managing) multimillion-dollar projects in his research activities and cleaning up contaminated sites He has received numerous awards, including a Fellow of the U.N., a Gold Medal from the Obama Administration for his innovative solutions to addressing complex mountaintop mining issues, a Bronze Medal for outstanding contribution to environmental research, technology transfer, and outreach, and the USEPA Scientific and Technological Achievement Award for outstanding published work with national and international impact. Dr. Kargbo has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and served on the editorial boards of internationally acclaimed peer-reviewed journals. His recent book on climate change is a game-changer for climate action. Dr. Kargbo graduated with a B.S. Honors (Chemistry) from the University of Sierra Leone and holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska.
