A delegation from the Embassy of the United States in Baghdad visited the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), where it was received by AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, and senior members of faculty and staff.
For Mr. Scott Boltz, Counsellor for Public Affairs at the embassy, it was a farewell visit, as the diplomat was moving on to other assignments. President Mulnix commended Mr. Boltz’s friendship towards AUIB and his role in developing the partnership between the University and the US embassy in Baghdad. At the same occasion, President Mulnix welcomed to campus Mr. Jeffrey Ellis, Public Engagement Officer at the embassy, on his first visit to AUIB campus.
Mr. Ellis, who was briefed on the University’s developing infrastructure and programs, its vision, and future plans, spoke of his role at the embassy, in educational programing and cultural exchange, commending the “terrific partnership” between the two parties, which he expected to grow through the years ahead. “As an American who has studied at several universities in the US, it’s an honor, and I’m proud that one of the premier universities here in Iraq bears the name, the American University,” remarked Mr. Ellis.
