Dr. Bradley J. Cook

President of the American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB)

Before joining AUIB, he served as President of the American University of the Kingdom of Bahrain (AUBH), where he led the institution to become the first U.S.-accredited university in Bahrain, one of only a few in the GCC and MENA region.

Previously, Dr. Cook was President of Snow College and Professor of History. During his tenure, the college experienced its largest enrollment growth, graduated its largest class, and achieved the #1 national ranking for student success by The Chronicle of Higher Education. In 2021, he was named Utah’s Best Educational Administrator.

He also served for a decade as Provost and Executive Vice President at Southern Utah University, where he advanced the university’s academic reputation and international profile. His career spans nearly 30 years of executive leadership, including roles as President of Abu Dhabi Women’s College (UAE) and Vice President for Academic Affairs and University Relations at Utah Valley University.

Dr. Cook earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors from Stanford University, where he also played cornerback for the football team. As a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow, he completed his doctorate in Middle East Studies at the University of Oxford.

He is the author of Classical Foundations of Islamic Educational Thought (BYU Press) and an active scholar in Islamic educational theory, comparative religion, and international education, with numerous publications in leading academic journals.
