In collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at Mustansiriyah University, the College of Pharmacy at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) organized the Sixth International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences, under the title, “Applications of Advanced Software and Techniques in Pharmaceutical Research.”
AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, welcomed to campus the President of Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Hameed Fadel Al-Tamimi, the Dean of Mustansiriyah’s College of Pharmacy, Dr. Munthir Faisal Mahdi, and the host of university college deans, faculty members, researchers, students, and professionals in the field of pharmacy who filled the main auditorium of AUIB’s College of Arts and Sciences. These came not only from Iraq, but also from Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.
“We don’t do anything in this university without first-class partners,” proclaimed President Mulnix, stressing the importance of AUIB’s partnership with Mustansiriyah University to the advancement of pharmacy education and training in Iraq, but also to “supporting larger research projects globally,” citing AUIB’s partnerships with world-renowned universities such as Temple University and St. Joseph’s University. President Mulnix vowed to achieve AUIB’s goal of establishing itself as a “Tier-One Research-One University within the next five years,” saying that this “will be tough to do, but it will be done” by virtue of the university’s world-class faculty and state-of-the-art labs and facilities.
Dr. Al-Tamimi commended the flourishing relationships between his university and AUIB, which have grown from the partnership between the two colleges of pharmacy to planning further collaboration on research in fields such as climate and atmospheric sciences and education. He also lauded the policy on part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of encouraging collaboration between public and private universities, “for the benefit of science and country.” Dr. Al-Tamimi did not miss highlighting the significance of the added value which Mustansiriyah University brings to its partnership with AUIB, pointing out that his university is one of the largest in Iraq, and one that has developed extensive expertise over a period of six decades.
