The College of International Studies (CIS) at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) proudly announces that two articles authored by one of its students, Mr. Alabbas Fadhil Alsudani, were recently published by journals in the United States.
The two articles authored by Mr. Alsudani, “A New Regime: The Middle East after Masoud Pezeshkian’s Election in Iran”, published as a column in Yale’s undergraduate global affairs journal, The Yale Review of International Studies, and “Amid a Chaotic Middle East, a Stable Iraq Matters“, published by the International Policy Digest, showcase CIS students’ active engagement in public affairs on the local, regional, and global levels, as well as the commitment on part of the College and AUIB in general to educate and train future leaders in the various walks of life.
“With regard to the ‘A New Regime’ article, I particularly appreciate Alabbas Fadhil Alsudani’s distinction between ‘conservatives’ and ‘pragmatic conservatives’ as this is his unique perspective, innovative, and useful as an analytic point. As for his article ‘Within a Chaotic Middle East’, I value Mr. Alsudani’s materialist approach, including petroleum output and transportation at the center of a compelling argument,” said CIS Dean, Dr. Elizabeth Bishop, expressing her college’s commitment to “make every effort to support each and every student to reach their full potential… Congratulations, Alabbas Alsudani! The College of International Studies is proud of your accomplishments,” she remarked.
Mr. Alsudani expressed his deep gratitude for “the steadfast support and encouragement from the College of International Studies. I had published numerous articles in Arabic, in addition to some pieces in English for local think tanks, but these two articles mark my first steps beyond a local audience… I am inspired by our faculty’s dedication to fostering academic growth and creating opportunities for student success,” he added.
