This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Healthcare Technologies.

Areas of Accountability: Main Activities:

  • Conduct laboratory and clinical instruction in prosthodontics, adhering to the established curriculum and education objectives of AUIB.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and supervision to students during preclinical and laboratory sessions, ensuring proficiency in techniques such as wax-up, master model preparation, metal casting, porcelain application and firing, and conventional or digital fabrication of prosthetic restorations.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and instructional materials to enhance student learning outcomes in close coordination with faculty teaching the same courses in theory.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members to integrate dental technologies and prosthodontic concepts across the dental curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to patient care.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of student performance, including administering examinations and grading assignments and providing constructive feedback.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in dental technology and prosthodontics through continuing education, research, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to the scholarly activities of the institution through research projects, publications, and presentations related to the field of dentistry.
  • Engage in service activities within the university community, such as serving on committees, participating in faculty meetings, and supporting institutional initiatives.

Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.

Required Education and Experience:

  • PhD or a professional doctorate from a reputed university, with postdoctoral experience in dental technology with an emphasis in prosthodontics or a closely related field. Candidates with education and experience in the US or US-styled educational institutions will be highly considered.
  • Possession of a valid and current dental license or eligibility for licensing.
  • Preference will also be given to candidates with research credentials and interests in any of the areas of dental technology, dental hygiene, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with preclinical lab material and safety rules.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at a reputed university.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and familiarity with the American system of higher education.
