In collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at Mustansiriyah University, the College of Pharmacy at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) organized the “Fifth Scientific International Conference” on Pharmaceutical Sciences, under the title, “Towards a Better Future in Pharmacy through Research, Practice and Technology.”
With the aim to foster new opportunities for collaboration and exchange of ideas among academic institutions, the conference discussed the latest advancements in pharmaceutical research, focusing on several key areas, including Clinical Analysis and Therapeutics, and Drug and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Sciences. Fostering innovation and original research was also at the top of the conference’s agenda, as the organizers were keen to recognize excellence in research, giving awards for the best submitted scientific papers.
In attendance were AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, the President of Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Hamid Fadel Al-Tamimi, head of the Syndicate of Iraqi Pharmacists, Dr. Haidar Fouad Al-Sadiq, government officials, and a host of academics and professionals in the field.
In his opening speech, President Mulnix welcomed the attendees and expressed AUIB’s keenness on developing its colleges with “esteemed partner institutions.” On the national level, AUIB’s College of Pharmacy partners with Mustansiriyah University, and on the international level, it partners with Temple University and Saint Joseph’s University in the United States, pointed out President Mulnix, highlighting the value and the need for such partnerships in conducting research and in providing AUIB students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience and to secure internships, as well as to pursue graduate studies abroad.
