A delegation from the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), led by University President, Dr. Bradley Cook, visited the Federal Board of Supreme Audit and met with a number of the Board’s officials, headed by the Vice President of the Board, Dr. Caesar Ghazi Izgere, to discuss matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, President Cook spoke about academic quality standards and university governance, touching upon the university’s efforts to obtain institutional accreditation from one of the most prominent American academic accreditation agencies. President Cook also discussed with the Board’s officials prospects for cooperation in establishing academic programs and professional training programs needed by the country, in accordance with the best international standards and in response to the needs of Iraq in both its public and private sectors. President Cook also extended an invitation to Dr. Izgere to visit the university to learn about its programs, initiatives, and modern infrastructure.

For his part, Dr. Izgere expressed the Board’s eagerness to support national universities in their endeavors to adopt the latest scientific curricula, aiming to mitigate the phenomenon of many Iraqi students traveling abroad to complete their postgraduate studies. The Vice President of the Board emphasized the importance of developing accounting and auditing programs in Iraqi universities to meet the society’s and the state’s need for competencies, praising the educational outcomes of AUIB.

Communication with the Board is aligned with AUIB’s strategy of collaborating with government institutions and departments, serving to develop the university’s academic and training programs, as well as to improve the functioning of government bodies alike. This falls within the context of serving the university’s mission to advance various aspects of life in Iraq through cooperation and partnerships with relevant government and private entities across various fields and sectors.
