A delegation from the American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB), led by Dr. Zuhair Atieh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Haider Al-Sultani, representing the Center of Excellence for Innovation and Development (CEID), conducted an official visit to the Migration Directorate at the Ministry of Migration and Displacement.
During the meeting, the delegation was received by Dr. Safaa Hussein, Director General of the Department of Migration Affairs, along with representatives from the European Union. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the rehabilitation of Iraqi returnees from EU countries through targeted training and capacity-building programs that support their reintegration into the local workforce and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The talks also explored professional development initiatives for Iraqi professionals seeking to work abroad under Skilled Visa programs, with an emphasis on aligning training outcomes with international standards and European labor-market requirements.
This visit underscores AUIB’s ongoing commitment, through CEID, to strengthening partnerships with governmental and international institutions, while advancing initiatives that foster human empowerment, skills development, and sustainable economic growth in Iraq.
