An Iraqi parliamentary delegation, headed by the Secretary General of the Parliament, Dr. Sirwan Abdullah Ismael, visited the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), where it was welcomed by university President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, and members of university staff and faculty.
“We want you to consider this university as your home. We want your advice on how to make AUIB the very best it can possibly be; on how to make it truly outstanding for the people of Iraq,” President Mulnix said, addressing the distinguished guests.
In turn, Dr. Ismail expressed his pride and joy at being at AUIB, calling it “a dream that is today coming true… a great and strategic academic project” of an ambition no lesser than to revive the great history of Iraq, “the history of science, great leaders,” and great academic achievements that would once again be Iraq’s gift to the world.
On behalf of the parliamentary delegation, Dr. Ismail pledged “to fully support this university” and to ensure the success of the ambitious project it embodies, “for the sake of our new generations, to provide this great opportunity for them, and to solve the issue of the quality of higher education, because we believe that the solution to all obstacles and challenges, societal and political, are related to education.”
