Researcher and Assistant Professor of History at Seattle Pacific University, Dr. Alissa Walter, and Ph.D. candidate in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), Ms. Julianna Smith, visited AUIB campus and met with Dr. Robert David Putnam, Assistant Professor of History at AUIB College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Walter is currently writing a book entitled, “Becoming Baghdad: A History of Iraq’s Capital City in the Republican Era,” in collaboration with Ms. Smith. The academics thus discussed the visitors’ research-trip subject, touching on topics such as community institutions and governance systems in Iraq, within the broader theme of state-society relationships in the specified era.

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad is a non-profit university founded in 2018. It currently has eight colleges.
