Baghdad / Stuttgart – In a groundbreaking development, a student from the American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB), majoring in International Business, will travel to Germany this June to complete a three-month internship with the globally renowned company Bosch. This marks the first time in AUIB’s history that a student has been granted a work opportunity in Germany and the European Union.

The internship will take place within Bosch’s automotive sector, one of the most advanced and globally impactful industries. This unprecedented opportunity provides the student not only with world-class corporate exposure but also reflects the increasing recognition of Iraqi academic talent on the international stage.

This milestone has been made possible thanks to the dedicated support of Benedikt Baumbach, Senior Vice President Manufacturing Automotive Electronics at Bosch.

“This is a major step forward not just for AUIB, but for Iraq,” says Dalia Abid, AUIB Regional Director Europe. “The collaboration with Bosch sets a strong precedent, and we are already working to welcome more Iraqi students to similar placements in the near future.”

The internship is scheduled from June 1 to August 31, 2025, with a monthly remuneration of Dollar 1600 for a 35-hour workweek.

This pilot internship serves as a blueprint for future international collaborations and opens the door for Iraqi students to actively participate in global innovation and industry transformation.
