The American University of Iraq-Baghdad received a delegation from the Embassy Of The Netherlands in Baghdad, headed by Mr. Rochus Pronk, Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Maurits Oskam, First Secretary Political Affairs, and Mr. Yasir Gootee, Senior Political Affairs Officer.

The delegation was received by AUIB’s President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, and several of the university’s faculty and staff. Discussions with the Dutch diplomatic delegation focused on the Embassy’s potential role in facilitating collaboration between AUIB and Dutch universities, especially between Colleges of Law, as Mr. Pronk is also a lawyer and Adjunct Professor of International Human Rights Law at the American University in Washington DC.

After deliberations and a tour of the university campus, Mr. Pronk expressed his positive impression of AUIB, saying that the university “provides unique space for a new generation to educate themselves”, also stating his Embassy’s interest in “exploring possibilities of cooperation with Dutch universities”.

Dr. Mulnix addressed the delegation, expressing AUIB’s faculty and staff’s welcoming of the diplomats’ visit, and looking forward to cooperation with Dutch universities.

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad is a non-profit university founded in 2018. It currently has six colleges.
