Position Title: HR Learning and Professional Development Coordinator
Location: American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Position Summary:
The HR Learning and Professional Development Coordinator at the American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB), will play a crucial role in enhancing the professional growth of faculty and staff. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing learning and development programs that align with the university’s goals and the professional needs of its employees. As a startup institution, AUIB seeks an innovative and resourceful coordinator who can establish a strong foundation for continuous learning and career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Learning and Development Program Design:
    • Develop, coordinate, and deliver learning and development programs, including workshops, seminars, e-learning courses, and leadership development initiatives.
    • Conduct needs assessments to identify skills gaps and training needs across various departments.
    • Design and implement onboarding programs for new hires to ensure a smooth transition into the university environment.
  2. Training Delivery and Facilitation:
    • Serve as a facilitator for training sessions and development workshops, ensuring they are engaging, informative, and aligned with university objectives.
    • Manage relationships with external training providers, ensuring the quality and relevance of outsourced training programs.
  3. Employee Development:
    • Collaborate with department heads to create individual development plans (IDPs) for staff and faculty.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of development programs, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
    • Support employees in pursuing continuous education opportunities, certifications, and professional growth activities.
  4. Talent Management and Succession Planning:
    • Assist in the development of a talent management strategy that includes succession planning, career pathing, and retention initiatives.
    • Identify high-potential employees and facilitate opportunities for advanced learning and leadership development.
  5. Evaluation and Reporting:
    • Track and analyze data on training outcomes, participant feedback, and overall program effectiveness.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for HR leadership on the impact and ROI of learning and development initiatives.
  6. Compliance and Policy Adherence:
    • Ensure all training programs comply with relevant local labor laws, university policies, and accreditation standards.
    • Update and maintain accurate training records and employee development documentation.
  7. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay abreast of the latest trends in learning and development, integrating best practices into AUIB’s programs.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the learning and development function.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in learning and development, training, or a related field, preferably within an academic or startup environment.
    • Experience in designing and delivering training programs, both in-person and virtually.
    • Familiarity with talent management and succession planning processes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
    • Must be fluent in English
