Represented by its President, Dr. Bradley Cook, the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Public Municipalities, represented by H.E. the Minister, Mr. Bangen Rekani. The signing, which took place at a special ceremony at the Ministry headquarters, aims “to open channels of cooperation… based on institutional collaboration and a joint commitment to developing human resources through training and development programs,” as per the signed document.
By taking this step, the two parties have entered into a strategic partnership to advance professional, academic, and institutional development in Iraq, working to achieve this goal by organizing specialized training programs, facilitating academic and scientific exchange, and sharing research facilities.
This collaboration uniquely bridges academia and government by combining AUIB’s educational and research strengths with the Ministry’s technical expertise and national development mandate. It underscores both institutions’ shared commitment to practical, impact-driven initiatives that enhance institutional capacity, promote innovation, and contribute to Iraq’s urban, housing, and infrastructure advancement, in alignment with the country’s sustainable development goals.
