The President of the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), Dr. Bradley Cook, accompanied by members of the university’s leading academic and administrative cadre, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they met Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, Head of the America Department at the ministry, Mr. Nazar Al Hakeem, and senior diplomatic officials.  

The two parties discussed prospects for cooperation in training programs tailored to members of the diplomatic corps, including on communication and leadership skills. They also discussed the possibility of cooperating in education and training in law and international studies.   

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Alawi highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to building the capacities of Iraq’s next generation of diplomats in partnership with prominent academic institutions such as AUIB. In turn, the AUIB delegation presented the university’s programs that are most relevant to the two parties’ sphere of cooperation, particularly those on advanced English language instruction, policy analysis, and executive leadership development. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strategic cooperation and investment in Iraq’s diplomatic future by working continuously to build the capacities of the country’s diplomatic corps, foster academic exchange, and galvanize student engagement in international affairs, thus positioning AUIB as a key partner in Iraq’s pursuit of global engagement and institutional excellence.
