The American Space at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) hosted the Wikipedia 25th Birthday Celebration, organized by Wikimedia Iraq which at the same time celebrated its 10th anniversary. The event brought together more than twenty Wikimedia contributors from around Iraq and from various academic and professional backgrounds, including contributors in the Kurdish and English languages, in addition to Arabic, as well as AUIB students and other interested parties, joined by a representative from the Wikimedia Foundation.
Wikimedia Iraq Founder, Mr. Ali Khalil, gave a presentation on Wikipedia in its twenty-fifth anniversary, and also moderated a discussion with Wikimedia Iraq’s board of directors on the occasion. The event also featured a one-hour “Editathon” where the content contributors in attendance all participated_ each in his or her language, managed by the coordinator of Wikimedia Iraq, Ms. Teebah Ali.
