The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) hosted, for the second time, the International Commercial Negotiation and Mediation Training and Practice Program organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), under the auspices of the European Union.
Student teams of colleges of law at prominent universities across Iraq participated in the intensive, practice-oriented 5-day program designed to develop participants’ skills in international commercial dispute resolution. On the sixth and final day of the program, the faculty-supervised student teams engaged in a competition, at the conclusion of which selected participants qualified to represent Iraq at the Vienna International Competition, with the sponsorship of UNDP.
The Program Trainers were Dr. Greg Bond, International Expert at UNDP Iraq, and his peer at the same organization, Ms. Sophie Tkemaladze. At the conclusion of the program, the AUIB College of Law student team won the competition held on campus, achieving first place among its peers from the colleges of law at Al-Mustansiriyah University, Al-Iraqiya University, and the University of Basrah.
