The American University of Baghdad (AUIB), through AUIB Press, organized on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a Book Talk titled, “The Neo-Leviathan: Three-Dimensional Iraq – Sultanistic, Authoritarian, Totalitarian”, authored by Dr. Falah Abdul-Jabar and edited by Dr. Abbas Kadhim, Professor of Politics.

The session was moderated by Dr. Muslih Irwani, Professor of Politics at AUIB, while Dr. Abbas Kadhim delivered an analytical presentation highlighting the book’s key ideas. The discussion focused on Iraq’s contemporary political and social structures through a comprehensive critical lens that combines sociological, political, and historical analysis.

The event was attended by a number of faculty members, students, public figures, officials, and others interested in political and intellectual affairs. A rich discussion followed Dr. Abbas Kadhim’s presentation, addressing Iraq’s political transformations over recent decades and the book’s fresh approach to understanding patterns of power and governance within the Iraqi context.
