After a period of intensive training, from August 2022 till February 2023, a select group of students of the College of Law (CoL) at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB), under the supervision of the Associate Dean of the College, Dr. Khansaa Mohammed Jassim, were successfully able to participate in the 13th edition of the International Commercial Arbitration Competition (Pre-Moot), held in the International Commercial Arbitration Center in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

The competition that lasted for seven days was organized by the Chamber of Commercial Dispute Resolution in Bahrain and the Commercial Law Development Program at the US Department of Commerce, in cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh Center for International Legal Education.

During the competition, AUIB CoL students presented pleadings and attended intensive training workshops on international commercial arbitration and relevant pleading mechanisms, given by the head of the International Law Education Center at the University of Pittsburgh, Professor Ronald Brand, and international experts in law. CoL students gained various experiences in the field of international commercial arbitration, and were able to qualify for the international competition in the field of commercial arbitration that will be held in the Austrian capital, at the University of Vienna, this March.
