(KAS), which will enrich the capabilities of the youth in Iraq and across the Middle East. The agreement was signed at a recent meeting in Lebanon by the AUIB President, Dr. Michael W. Mulnix, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s head of Syria/Iraq Office, Mr. Gregor Jaecke.
During his speech at the signing ceremony, Dr. Mulnix noted the importance of this agreement, saying, “I believe this group of American and European NGOs will, indeed, create exciting new collaborations that will lead to several new programs to improve the skills of the youth in Iraq and the entire Middle East.”
The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation’s Syria/Iraq Office was founded in 2015 and contributes to the improvement of the youth capabilities in the region. KAS supports students’ education by preparing them for work in both the state and the society, notably in the fields of science, business, politics and administration, media, and culture, and works to create a network of future decision-makers.
Jaecke expressed his hopes for the partnership with AUIB, describing how the situation in Iraq is difficult especially for the youth who are seeking good education. He noted that signing this memorandum would increase the possibility of a better future for Iraq. Jaecke also added that it is pivotal for KAS to bring socially responsible people together, to create fruitful networks, and to exchange innovative ideas that will lead to tackling challenges within the society. KAS’s Syria/Iraq office will be joining the AUIB Center for the Advancement of Higher Education in Iraq and become part of the University’s international think-tank.
