The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) received a delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Iraq, headed by the new Dutch Ambassador, Mr. Hans Sandee. The delegation was welcomed by AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, and senior members of faculty and staff, and prospects of cooperation with top-tier universities in the Netherlands were discussed.
President Mulnix briefed the delegation on AUIB’s developing site, facilities, and programs, expounding on some of the University’s major future plans, most prominent of which are the prospective College of Medicine and the associated university hospital, and the College of Education and its model schools.
In turn, Ambassador Sandee said he was highly impressed by the University’s fast development and its ambitious plans. “AUIB is much more than a university… (it) will be developed as a motor of change and innovation in Iraq, and that’s definitely something this country needs,” said the Dutch Ambassador, adding that it had been “a great pleasure to be” at AUIB, and that he was looking forward to future cooperation, and to another visit to campus.
