Prof. Hamid Eltigani

Before joining AUIB, Dr. Eltigani served for seven years as Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Basic Sciences Department at Sonoran University for Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. During his tenure, he led significant reforms in the anatomy curriculum, chaired the Faculty Ranking and Promotion Committee, and contributed to multiple university-wide initiatives.
Previously, Dr. Eltigani’s academic journey began in 1996, when he was appointed Assistant Professor and Founding Chair of the Anatomy Department at the College of Medicine, Kordofan University in Sudan. His pioneering efforts were instrumental in building the department from the ground up.
His career spans over three decades and includes teaching undergraduate and graduate students at institutions in Atlanta, Georgia, and Khartoum, Sudan. He also practiced medicine and completed four years of residency in radiology across various teaching hospitals.
Dr. Eltigani earned his Medical Doctorate from Minsk State Medical University in Belarus and his master’s degree in human morphology from the University of Khartoum, Sudan.
His scholarly interests include curriculum reform, educational research, and stem cell research, reflecting his commitment to advancing both medical education and biomedical science.
